2. Hosting and server logs

This website runs on our own server, rented from netcup GmbH, Daimlerstraße 25, 76185 Karlsruhe, Germany, in a data centre in Nuremberg. When you visit, the server processes technically necessary data (IP address, date and time, page requested, browser and operating system) to deliver the site. We keep no access logs; only technical error messages are stored briefly, and we do not analyse anything. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (secure and fast operation).

3. Cookies, analytics and third-party content

This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics or tracking. Fonts, images and program libraries are served from our own hosting. No content from other providers is loaded when you open a page; exceptions are the map on the measurements page (section 4) and the 3D models on the beech tree page (section 4a).

4. Measurements page: map, gauge data and our data server

When you open the measurements page, the map loads automatically. Your browser then requests data directly from the following providers, which receive your IP address, date and time and browser details:

The legal basis is our legitimate interest in showing the region’s water levels and our station clearly on a map (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). If you do not want this, please do not open the measurements page; all other pages load no third-party content. We receive no data about you from these providers.

Readings from our own station (charts and current values) come from our own server (riesenmuehle.de) and load when you open the page. That server processes the same technically necessary data as described in section 2; we keep them only briefly for troubleshooting and do not analyse them (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

4a. Beech tree page: 3D models from Projook

The beech tree page embeds two 3D models of the tree from Projook (projook.com). When you open the page, your browser loads them directly from Projook, which receives your IP address, date and time and browser details. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in showing the tree clearly (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Projook is provided by Lueers Inventions GmbH, managed by Bernard Lüers; company and privacy details are available at projook.com. Projook measures use of the embedded models with a self-hosted Matomo installation (analytics.projook.com) using shortened IP addresses and does not pass the data on to third parties. As operators of this site we receive no personal data about you from Projook.

6. Contact by e-mail or phone

If you contact us, we process your details to answer your request (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, or Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR for booking enquiries) and delete them when no longer needed, unless statutory retention periods apply.

7. Your rights

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection (Art. 15–21 GDPR), and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, e.g. the Data Protection Commissioner of Lower Saxony.
